Casket spray

This is a casket spray I made during this last semester.
This was my first time making a casket spray, and it turned out pretty good
I thought. A lot of greenery is added, along with roses, carnations, chrysanthemums, and wax flower.
Thank you to my awesome sister who photographed these pictures for me. :)

Love, love, love these photos! Thanks again sister for taking these for me.

Ti-Leaf Lei

This was very fun yet hard to make this lei, as well as super messy!
This is a lei made out of Ti leaves. This method was basically cutting the leaves into pieces and then twisting them over each other. (This is more complicated than it seems) These are great to make for graduations. I see these made more for the guys, than the girls, but could be wore by both.

Garden Theme

This arrangement was towards my mom. My class was given mother's day as our theme.
Since my mom is always outside in the backyard, and is always gardening or doing something along those lines, I decided to do a little gardening theme. I also decided to add some little birds, because as long as I have been alive, my mom has always had a bird. :) Just some things that remind me of my mommy!

Space age glam rock

I was asked to help a friend with her senior project a month or so
before school got out. My friend and her group held their event at the First Friday's in Long Beach.
The theme they were asked to incorporate was SPACE AGE GLAM ROCK. Their goal was to incorporate that theme with their main point of using different art inspirations to create dance. So I came up with the arrangement below which was displayed at their event.

* The structure of this was handmade, all by PVC pipe,
and then spray painted with metallic paint.

This was a really challenging and fun project for me to do, and I'm glad I was able to help with this project. Hope you enjoyed my post. Comment your likes or improvements :)

Joyful hand-tied bouquet

Was given some left over yellow roses
from my aunt, and so I decided to make
a yellow rose bouquet with them. Simply just to go in my
grandmother's room

Yellow roses mean joy, gladness, friendship,
delight, promise of a new beginning, welcome back,
remember me, jealousy, "I care".

You can complain because roses have thorns, or you can rejoice because thorns have roses.

Compotise flower

This week in my Competition & Creativity class we had to make a composite flower. We were given 2 stems of spray roses,  1 stem of Leptospermum, & 1 Pink Mink Protea.

Above are the three flowers we were given. We had 30 minutes to create our Composite Flower, and this is what I created below.

Unique Boutonniere

Hello everyone!
I know it has been a little while since my last post. I have been really busy, but I managed to make some time to post some photos. :)

This is a boutonniere I made last week, while I had some time to play around with some of my flowers. This boutonniere has lots of texture, along with masculine materials, which gives it a very unique look I feel.

This boutonniere consists of:

> Birds of paradise, which I took apart and added it in

> Safari Sunset Leucadendron, I used a few petals in the boutonniere, as well as took the center of one and added it in (left of boutonniere)

> Kangaroo Paw( adds a nice touch)

> Lastly, I used Jute Twine to cover stems and wire

Please feel free to comment and let me know what you think about it.

Golden west college gala

The golden west college floral design students helped create arrangements and set up the Gala! I had the chance to help this year, at the Waterfront Hilton Hotel Resort, and it was a lot of fun! The outcome looked amazing!

The photo below is the arrangement I personally made for the event! :)

You are my sunshine: Round arrangement

YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE
MY ONLY SUNSHINE
YOU MAKE ME HAPPY
WHEN SKIES ARE GREY
YOU'LL NEVER KNOW DEAR
HOW MUCH I LOVE YOU
SO PLEASE DON'T
TAKE MY SUNSHINE AWAY

My round arrangement consisting of some Hydrangea, Roses, China Mums, Stock and Mini Carnations.

In class this week, our theme was light/sight, so I decided to interpret light by the sunlight. This was a really fun project, and I love the theme I chose. This was a little set up I created to display my flowers. This was one of my favorite projects.

I hope you enjoy, feel free to comment. :) Thanks for checking out my blog.

Vase arrangement

This is a vase arrangement made for Sonya. This was a fun day playing with flowers at work, with some help from the boy I nanny for Jedediah. He seemed to enjoy helping me cut the Calla Lilies from the front yard. :)

I also added some silver bullion curled in the middle of the calla lily for some extra detail.I really love simply, but elegant looking arrangements.

Hand-tied armature bouquet

" A hand-tied bouquet shines with a little help from an armature made of twigs."
-Rich Salvaggio  AIFD, AAF, PFCI

Here is a my hand-tied bouquet: Armature structure

This natural looking bouquet consists of some beautiful Roses, Gerberas, statice, & purple aster.

This is a unique curly willow armature. It was started out by using the curly willow to create a triangle, followed by a circle, and then a dome was created.

This bouquet was really fun to make and I am really happy with how it turned out. I love the structure of it and how it gives the flowers a sense of depth. I hope you enjoy.

Quote/tip of the day

Quote of the day:

"Life is like a flower blooming more each day. A flower may not get much rain one day but the next it may get a downpour of rain. Life is beautiful but not easy. So let the flower bloom because in the end the flower will still be standing tall."

Tips of the day

(When preparing flowers for an arrangement)

Tip 1:MUST CUT

>Cut an inch off of stem before placing in water or floral foam with a sharp floral knife (if you have one) at a diagonal. * The fresh sharp cut will help the flower absorb water better.

Flower of the month

Did you know we have birth flowers, just like we do birth stones?

MARCH birth flower of the month:

DAFFODIL

>Colors: white or yellow

>Meaning: Devotion / Affection, Sympathy

>>Fun and interesting fact: Daffodils are poisonous and can be harmful or deadly if eaten.

Quote/tips of the day

Quote of the day:
A flower cannot blossom without sunshine, and man cannot live without love.
-Max Muller

5 Flower care tips:

>Clean your vases with bleach-to kill bacteria from previous flowers.

>When placing cut flowers in a vase remove all foliage that will be below the water line.

>To keep flowers longer, change the water (and floral food) every two to three days and recut the stems.

>Remove any dead flowers as they appear-they release ethylene gas which escalates the aging of the other      flowers.

>Give your flowers a fresh look by spray misting the flowers with fresh water.

HI EVERYONE

So I decided to start a little blog so I can keep all my floral arrangements, and projects in one place and share with all who are interested in keeping yourself updated with me.

I hope to keep this up to date, and am excited to share with you.
:)

HAPPY MONDAY!

This is my first small set piece. It's base is a cross Styrofoam piece wrapped with Ti-leaves, as well as some lemon leaves. Beautiful purple orchids were used at a diagonal line, with added lily grass, and honey bracelet.

Purple ribbon was added to the ends of the Styrofoam, along with purple tulle to add some color.
